Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Rice
Rinse the white rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
- 2
Cook the Rice
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
- 3
Prepare the Salmon
While the rice is cooking, pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
Cooking
- 4
Grill the Salmon
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the grill. Brush generously with teriyaki sauce. Grill for 5-7 minutes, then flip and brush the other side with teriyaki sauce. Grill for an additional 5-7 minutes or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
- 5
Prepare the Garnish
While the salmon is grilling, finely chop the green onions. Set aside for garnish.
Serving
- 6
Plate the Dish
Fluff the cooked rice with a fork and divide it among 4 plates. Place a grilled salmon fillet on top of the rice.
- 7
Garnish
Sprinkle the chopped green onions and sesame seeds over the salmon and rice before serving.
