Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the whole milk. Start and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

  6. 6

    Add Sprinkles

Gently fold in the rainbow sprinkles until evenly distributed.

  7. 7

    Bake the Cakes

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  8. 8

    Cool the Cakes

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 9

    Make the Buttercream

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until well combined.

  2. 10

    Add Cream and Vanilla

Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract. Beat on high speed until the frosting is light and fluffy.

  3. 11

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of buttercream on top, then add the second layer and repeat. Top with the final layer and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  4. 12

    Decorate with Sprinkles

Finish by decorating the top and sides of the cake with the remaining rainbow sprinkles.
