Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the penne noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 10-12 minutes.

  2. 2

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the penne noodles in a colander and set aside.

Preparing the Sauce

  1. 3

    Cook the Sausage

While the pasta is cooking, slice the smoked sausage into bite-sized pieces. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Marinara Sauce

Pour the marinara sauce into the skillet with the sausage. Stir in garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes to combine the flavors.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 5

    Mix Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained penne noodles to the skillet with the sauce. Toss everything together until the noodles are well coated with the sauce.

  2. 6

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle the provel cheese evenly over the pasta and sauce mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid to allow the cheese to melt, about 5 minutes.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Dish

Once the cheese has melted, remove the skillet from heat. Serve the Pasta Rosso hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
