Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetables

Chop the onion and green bell pepper into small pieces. Mince the garlic cloves.

  2. 2

    Cook the Ground Beef

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet with the browned beef. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the vegetables are soft.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Transfer the beef and vegetable mixture to a large crockpot. Add the canned diced tomatoes (with juice), kidney beans, black beans, corn, chili powder, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

  2. 5

    Add Liquid

Pour in the water or broth, and stir again to ensure all ingredients are well mixed.

  3. 6

    Cook the Chili

Cover the crockpot with a lid and set it to low heat. Cook for 6-8 hours, or on high heat for 3-4 hours, until the flavors meld and the chili thickens.

  4. 7

    Serve

Once cooked, stir the chili again and serve hot. Enjoy with toppings of choice such as cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions.
