Method
Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F) to ensure it reaches the ideal temperature for baking the fondant.
- 2
Making the Fondant
- 3
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) or in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- 4
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and large eggs until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
- 5
- 6
Add Flour and Vanilla
Sift in the all-purpose flour and add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Gently fold until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- 7
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
- 8
Bake
Place the ramekins in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes. The edges should be firm, but the center should still be soft.
- 9
Cool and Serve
Allow the fondants to cool for 1-2 minutes before carefully inverting them onto serving plates. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
