Method

Brisket Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Brisket

In a small bowl, mix salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the entire brisket.

  2. 2

    Sear the Brisket

In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat a bit of oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on both sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  3. 3

    Cook the Brisket

Add beef broth to the pot and cover. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is tender and easily shredded with a fork.

  4. 4

    Rest the Brisket

Remove the brisket from the pot and let it rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing.

  5. 5

    Slice the Brisket

Using a sharp knife, slice the brisket against the grain into thin pieces.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Vegetables

Wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato and onion into thin rings.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Sandwich

Take a Kaiser roll and spread a generous amount of BBQ sauce on the bottom half. Layer with sliced brisket, followed by lettuce, tomato, and onion. Top with the other half of the roll.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately while warm with extra BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
