Measure and combine
In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Traveller whiskey, 3 tsp Amaro Nonino, 3 tsp Aperol, and 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice.
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with plenty of ice (enough to come within about 1 inch of the lid). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12β15 seconds until the exterior of the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.
Prepare glass
If you used ice water to chill the glass, dump it out now.
Double strain and serve
Double-strain the mixture through a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer into the chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass to remove small ice shards and any lemon pulp. This yields a clean, silky cocktail.
Final note
Enjoy immediately while cold. The balance should be bright and slightly bitter with a herbaceous backbone from the amaro and the sweet-bitter-orange character of Aperol.
