Method
Cocktail
- 1
Combine ingredients
Add 2 oz Michter's Rye, 1 oz sweet vermouth, 0.25 oz Benedictine, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into a mixing glass.
- 2
Add ice and stir
Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice and stir gently but thoroughly for 30–45 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted (about 20–25% dilution of initial spirit volume).
- 3
Prepare glass
Place a large ice cube (or fresh ice cubes) into an old-fashioned (rocks) glass.
- 4
Strain
Strain the chilled cocktail from the mixing glass into the prepared rocks glass over the ice.
- 5
Garnish
Express an orange peel over the drink by holding the peel skin-side down over the glass and giving it a firm twist to release citrus oils. Run the peel around the rim, then drop it into the drink as garnish.
