- 1
Chill glass
Place an old-fashioned glass or rocks glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink to chill the glass.
- 2
Build and stir
Add High West rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, amaro, simple syrup, Angostura bitters, and orange bitters into a mixing glass filled halfway with ice. Stir briskly for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full turns) until well chilled and slightly diluted.

Garnish
Express the oils from the orange peel over the drink by holding it skin-side down above the glass and giving it a firm twist; run the peel around the rim and drop it into the drink as garnish.
- 6
Serve
Serve immediately. Sip slowly to enjoy the balance of rye spice, sweet vermouth richness, and the bitters/amaro complexity.
