Method

Serve neat or on the rocks

  1. 1

    Bring to proper temperature

If the bourbon has been chilled or stored in a cool place, allow the bottle to sit at room temperature for 10–15 minutes so the aroma opens up before pouring.

  2. 2

Place one large ice cube in a rocks glass if you prefer your whiskey chilled. For a traditional neat pour, omit the ice.

  3. 3

Measure and pour 2 oz of Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon into the prepared glass.

  4. 4

If using an orange peel: express the oils by holding the peel over the glass with the outer (colored) side down, give it a firm twist to release oils onto the surface of the bourbon, then rub the peel around the rim and drop it into the glass.

  5. 5

Swirl the glass gently to release aromas and taste. Sip slowly to appreciate the bourbon's nose, palate, and finish.
