Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Build and stir

Place a mixing glass or large stirring glass on your work surface. Add 2 oz Angel's Envy bourbon, 1 oz sweet vermouth, 0.25 oz Luxardo (or other maraschino liqueur) and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters into the mixing glass.

  2. 2

    Add ice and chill

Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice. Stir gently but steadily for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full turns) until the mixture is well chilled and properly diluted (glass will feel noticeably cold).

  3. 3

    Prepare glass

Place a large ice cube (or fresh ice) into a chilled lowball/Old Fashioned glass.

  4. 4

    Strain

Using a julep strainer or Hawthorne strainer, strain the stirred cocktail from the mixing glass into the prepared Old Fashioned glass over the large ice cube.

  5. 5

    Garnish

Express the oils from an orange peel over the surface of the drink by holding the peel skin-side down above the glass and giving it a firm twist. Rub the peel around the rim if desired, then drop it into the drink as a garnish.

  6. 6

    Serve immediately. Enjoy responsibly.
