Main Ingredient

Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Take the 8 oz New York Strip Steak and season it generously with salt and pepper on both sides. You can also add garlic powder or your favorite steak seasoning if desired.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or to your desired doneness. For an even cook, you can use a meat thermometer; aim for 130°F for medium-rare.

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for at least 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

Baked Potato Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Potato

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Wash the potato thoroughly and prick it several times with a fork to allow steam to escape during cooking.

  2. 5

    Bake the Potato

Place the potato directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet. Bake for about 45-60 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and a fork can easily pierce the flesh.

  3. 6

    Add Butter

Once baked, remove the potato from the oven, cut a slit down the middle, and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 7

    Cook the Vegetables

While the steak is resting and the potato is baking, prepare your seasonal vegetables. You can steam, sauté, or roast them, depending on your preference. For steaming, bring water to a boil, add the vegetables, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until tender. For sautéing, heat some olive oil in a pan and cook the vegetables for about 5-10 minutes.
