Lasagna Assembly

Method

Marinara Sauce

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinara Sauce

In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Allow the sauce to simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once done, stir in the fresh basil and set aside.

Herbed Ricotta

  1. 2

    Prepare the Herbed Ricotta

In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, fresh parsley, and salt. Mix until well combined. Set aside.

Seasoned Meat

  1. 3

    Cook the Seasoned Meat

In a skillet over medium heat, add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Add the ground beef or sausage, breaking it up with a spatula. Season with oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook until the meat is browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Alfredo Sauce

  1. 4

    Prepare the Alfredo Sauce

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the grated American Grana Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Cook until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. Remove from heat.

Lasagna Assembly

  1. 5

    Assemble the Lasagna

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, spread a layer of marinara sauce at the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half the seasoned meat, half the herbed ricotta, and a layer of Alfredo sauce. Repeat the layering process, ending with a final layer of marinara sauce on top. Sprinkle additional grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.

  2. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving. Cut into squares and enjoy your homemade lasagna!
