Chill glass
Place a highball or large rocks glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice and cold water for 2–3 minutes to cool while you prepare ingredients.

Add ice
Fill the chilled glass about two-thirds full with fresh ice cubes (approximately 1 cup).

Measure and pour wine
Measure 1 cup of dry red wine and pour it gently over the ice. Use a young, fruity red (Tempranillo, Garnacha, Merlot or similar).

Add cola
Measure 1 cup of cola and slowly pour it down the side of the glass or over the back of a spoon to reduce agitation and retain carbonation.

Brighten with lime
Add 1/2 tablespoon fresh lime juice to the mixture and stir once or twice gently with a bar spoon to combine without flattening the cola.

Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim or dropped into the drink. Serve immediately with a straw or stirring spoon.
