Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Prepare Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Toppings Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare Pan

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan with olive oil.

  2. 6

    Shape Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and stretch it to fit the prepared baking pan. Make sure the dough reaches the edges.

  3. 7

    Layer Toppings

Spread the mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough, followed by Grana Padano, and spoon dollops of ricotta cheese over the top.

  4. 8

    Add Garlic Oil and Basil

Drizzle garlic oil over the cheese layer and sprinkle chopped basil on top.

  5. 9

    Finish with Tomato Sauce

Spoon tomato sauce evenly over the entire pizza, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Baking

  1. 10

    Bake the Pizza

Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  2. 11

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy your Small Detroit Upside Down!
