Method
Pizza Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water (about 110°F), sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture along with olive oil.
- 3
Knead Dough
Mix until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Pizza Assembly and Baking
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) to ensure it is hot enough for baking the pizza.
- 6
Prepare Pizza Base
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a small, round shape, about 10 inches in diameter.
- 7
Add Sauce
Spread the San Marzano tomatoes evenly over the pizza base, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 8
Layer Cheeses
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella, white cheddar, and provolone evenly over the tomato sauce. Finally, top with shredded Gouda.
- 9
Bake Pizza
Carefully transfer the pizza onto a baking sheet or pizza stone and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling and slightly browned.
- 10
Cool and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
