Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Warm Milk and Butter

In a small saucepan, heat the whole milk and unsalted butter over low heat until the butter is melted. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and then add in the warm milk and butter mixture. Mix until well combined.

  4. 4

    Form the Dough

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare the Filling

While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. Chop the seasonal fruit into small pieces and mix it in a bowl with the brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Set aside.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 7

    Roll Out the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 8

    Add Filling

Spread the fruit filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  3. 9

    Form the Cruffins

Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.

  4. 10

    Prepare Muffin Tin

Grease a muffin tin and place each piece of dough into the tin, standing them upright.

  5. 11

    Second Rise

Cover the muffin tin with a cloth and let the cruffins rise for another 30 minutes.

  6. 12

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the cruffins for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.

Topping Preparation

  1. 13

    Make the Glaze

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth.

  2. 14

    Glaze the Cruffins

Once the cruffins are baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before drizzling with the glaze.
