Tuna Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Tuna
Using a sharp knife, slice the Ahi tuna into 3 equal pieces (approximately 50 grams each). Ensure the slices are about 1/2 inch thick for optimal texture.
- 2
Season the Tuna
In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, and sea salt. Brush the mixture onto both sides of the tuna slices to ensure they are evenly coated.
- 3
Sear the Tuna
Heat a non-stick skillet over high heat. Once hot, add the tuna pieces and sear for about 30 seconds on each side, just until a crust forms on the outside but the center remains rare.
Garnish and Serve
- 4
Prepare Garnishes
On a serving plate, place a small dollop of wasabi and a few slices of pickled ginger for serving. Sprinkle the chopped green onions and sesame seeds on top of the tuna slices.
- 5
Plate the Dish
Arrange the seared tuna slices on the plate beside the wasabi and pickled ginger. Serve immediately while the tuna is fresh and warm.
