Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp of salt, 2 tbs of sugar, and 1 tbs of instant yeast. Stir well to mix the dry ingredients evenly.

  2. 2

    Add Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of warm water, 1 cup of milk, and 1 tbs of melted butter. Gradually add this mixture to the dry ingredients while mixing until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Form it into a ball.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of diced cooked ham, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, 4 oz of softened cream cheese, and 2 tbs of chopped fresh chives. Mix until well combined and creamy.

Croissant Assembly

  1. 6

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it out into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 7

    Cut the Dough

Cut the dough into triangles (approximately 4-5 inches wide at the base).

  3. 8

    Fill Croissants

Place a tablespoon of the filling at the base of each triangle and roll the dough up towards the tip, forming a croissant shape. Pinch the edges to seal.

  4. 9

    Let Croissants Rise

Place the rolled croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a cloth and let them rise for about 30 minutes.

Egg Wash and Baking

  1. 10

    Prepare Egg Wash

In a small bowl, whisk together 1 large egg and 1 tbs of milk until well mixed.

  2. 11

    Apply Egg Wash

Brush the egg wash over the tops of the croissants for a golden finish.

  3. 12

    Bake Croissants

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the croissants for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown and puffed up.
