Method

Preparation of Salmon

  1. 1

    Season the Salmon

Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over both sides of the salmon fillets.

  2. 2

    Cook the Salmon

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the seasoned salmon fillets in the skillet, skin-side down. Cook for about 4-5 minutes without moving them, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

Preparation of Avocado

  1. 3

    Slice the Avocado

While the salmon is cooking, cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh out into a bowl. Mash the avocado lightly with a fork, leaving some chunks for texture. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into the avocado to prevent browning and add flavor.

Assembly and Garnishing

  1. 4

    Plate the Dish

Once the salmon is cooked, remove it from the skillet and place it on a plate. On one side of the salmon, add a generous scoop of the mashed avocado.

  2. 5

    Add Garnishes

Chop fresh cilantro and sprinkle it over the avocado. If desired, add chili flakes on top for a bit of heat. Squeeze the remaining lemon half over the entire dish for extra zest.
