Marinara Sauce

Method

Meatballs

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2

Mix the Meatball Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until just combined.

3

Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

4

Bake the Meatballs

Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through and browned on the outside.

Marinara Sauce

5

Sauté the Aromatics

In a large saucepan over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.

6

Add the Tomatoes

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.

7

Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

8

Add Fresh Basil

Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving.

Combine

9

Serve the Meatballs

Once the meatballs are baked and the sauce is ready, place the meatballs in the marinara sauce and let them simmer together for a few minutes before serving.
