Lasagna Rolls

Béchamel Sauce

Heirloom Tomato Sauce

Method

Lasagna Rolls Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Lasagna Noodles

Boil a large pot of salted water. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Bolognese Filling

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until onion is translucent. Add ground pork, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes and fresh basil. Simmer for 10 minutes, then remove from heat.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Béchamel Sauce

In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens (about 5-7 minutes). Season with nutmeg and salt, then remove from heat.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Lasagna Rolls

On a clean surface, lay out each lasagna noodle. Spread a layer of béchamel sauce on each noodle, followed by a spoonful of the bolognese filling and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese. Roll each noodle tightly and place seam-side down in a greased baking dish.

  2. 5

    Top with Remaining Ingredients

Once all rolls are assembled, pour any remaining béchamel sauce over the top. Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese evenly across the rolls.

Heirloom Tomato Sauce

  1. 6

    Prepare the Heirloom Tomato Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced heirloom tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 10 minutes until tomatoes have softened and released their juices. Stir in fresh basil and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

Baking

  1. 7

    Bake the Lasagna

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.

  2. 8

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve the lasagna rolls topped with the heirloom tomato sauce.
