Cooking Pasta

Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt once boiling.

Cook the Spaghetti
Add 200 grams of spaghetti to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain and Reserve Water
Once cooked, reserve about ½ cup of the pasta water and then drain the spaghetti in a colander.
Making the Sauce

Heat the Olive Oil
In a large skillet over medium heat, add 4 tablespoons of olive oil. Allow it to heat for about 1 minute.

Sauté the Garlic
Add the minced garlic cloves (4 cloves) to the skillet. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant but not browned.

Combine with Basil
Add the chopped fresh basil leaves (1 cup) to the skillet. Stir well to combine with the garlic and oil.

Adjust Consistency
If the pasta appears dry, add a little reserved pasta water (start with ¼ cup) to achieve the desired consistency.

Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese (50 grams) and black pepper (to taste) over the pasta. Toss to combine well.
