Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, stir together the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Once the yeast is activated, add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Sauce Preparation
- 6
- 7
Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Add the San Marzano tomatoes, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and let simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 8
Blend the Sauce (optional)
For a smoother consistency, use an immersion blender to blend the sauce to your desired texture.
Assembling the Pizza
- 9
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
- 10
- 11
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and stretch it out to fit the pizza pan. Make sure to push the dough up to the edges.
- 12
Add Sauce and Cheese
Spread a layer of sauce over the dough. Sprinkle the mozzarella, white cheddar, provolone, and Gouda cheese evenly on top.
- 13
Bake the Pizza
Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 14
Cool and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
