Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

Thaw the shrimp if frozen. Rinse under cold water, then pat dry with paper towels. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ahi Tuna

Trim the Ahi tuna of any skin or sinew, and cut into 1-inch cubes. Season with salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Avocado

Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh. Dice into small pieces and drizzle with lime juice to prevent browning.

  4. 4

    Chop the Cilantro

Finely chop the cilantro leaves and set aside.

Cooking Instructions

  1. 5

    Steam the Shrimp

Fill a pot with water and bring to a boil. Place the shrimp in a steamer basket and steam for about 5-7 minutes until they turn pink and are opaque. Remove from heat and set aside.

  2. 6

    Sear the Ahi Tuna

Heat sesame oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned Ahi tuna cubes and sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side until browned but still rare in the center. Remove from heat.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Combine Ingredients

On a serving plate, arrange the steamed shrimp. Top with the diced avocado and then arrange the seared Ahi tuna on top.

  2. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Sprinkle chopped cilantro over the assembled dish. Drizzle some soy sauce over the top, and serve immediately.
