Preparation

  1. 1

    Grind the Coffee Beans

Using a coffee grinder, grind 16 grams of Illy Classico coffee beans to a fine consistency suitable for espresso.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Espresso

Using an espresso machine, brew the ground coffee with 30 ml of hot water to create a double shot of espresso (approximately 60 ml total).

  3. 3

    Heat the Milk

In a small saucepan or using a milk frother, heat 60 ml of milk until it is warm but not boiling. If using a frother, froth the milk to create a velvety texture.

  4. 4

    Combine Espresso and Milk

Pour the warm milk over the prepared double shot of espresso, allowing the two to blend gently together. Aim for a 1:2 ratio of espresso to milk.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the cortado in a small glass or cup. Optionally, sprinkle with a dusting of cocoa powder or cinnamon for added flavor.
