Cake Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Mix until fully combined.

Baking the Cake

  1. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Topping

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and chopped nuts (if using).

  3. 6

    Layer and Bake

Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking pan. Sprinkle half of the topping mixture over the batter. Pour the remaining batter and then sprinkle the rest of the topping on top. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cooling and Serving

  1. 7

    Cool the Cake

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  2. 8

    Serve

Slice the coffee cake and serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea!
