Method
Preparing the Dough
- 1
Mixing the Ingredients
In a large bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Combining Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture into the yeast mixture while stirring.
- 3
Kneading the Dough
Once the dough starts coming together, knead it on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
- 4
Rising the Dough
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Assembling the Pizza
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 6
Rolling Out the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- 7
Preparing the Sauce
Crush the San Marzano tomatoes by hand and season with salt and black pepper. Optionally, add some fresh basil.
- 8
Adding Toppings
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough. Tear the fresh mozzarella and distribute it evenly. Add the white cheddar and provolone, and finally sprinkle the shredded gouda on top.
- 9
Baking the Pizza
Transfer the pizza to the hot oven (on a pizza stone or baking sheet) and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 10
Serving
Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool slightly, and garnish with fresh basil if desired. Slice and serve hot.
