Method
Salad Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Lettuce
Wash the red gem, romaine, and frisée lettuce thoroughly under cold water. Pat dry with a clean kitchen towel or use a salad spinner to remove excess water.
- 2
Chop the Lettuce
Tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large salad bowl.
Dressing Preparation
- 3
Make the Dressing
In a small bowl, mince the garlic cloves and add them to the bowl. Stir in the Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
- 4
Emulsify the Dressing
While whisking continuously, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until the dressing is emulsified and thickened. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Assembling the Salad
- 5
Combine Salad and Dressing
Pour the prepared dressing over the lettuce mixture in the salad bowl. Toss gently until the lettuce is evenly coated with the dressing.
- 6
Add Toppings
Sprinkle the optional parmesan cheese over the top of the salad (if using) and add the croutons. Toss lightly to combine.
