Salad

Method

Salad Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Romaine

Wash the Romaine lettuce thoroughly under cold water. Remove any damaged outer leaves and chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Croutons

If using store-bought croutons, measure out 1 cup. If making homemade croutons, cut day-old bread into cubes, toss with olive oil, salt, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

  3. 3

    Grate the Parmesan

Finely grate the Parmesan cheese and set aside for topping the salad.

Dressing Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Dressing

In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, minced garlic, anchovy fillets, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well until smooth and creamy.

  2. 5

    Season the Dressing

Add black pepper to taste, adjusting according to your preference. Mix thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are well combined.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a large salad bowl, place the chopped Romaine lettuce. Pour the dressing over the lettuce and toss gently to coat all the leaves evenly.

  2. 7

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle the croutons and grated Parmesan cheese on top of the salad. Give one last gentle toss to mix the toppings.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately in individual bowls or plates, garnishing with additional Parmesan cheese and croutons if desired.
