Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

  2. 6

    Prepare Pizza Base

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out to fit an 11-inch pizza stone or baking sheet.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the pizza base. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.

  4. 8

    Layer Toppings

Distribute pepperoni slices, sliced meatballs, and dollops of ricotta cheese over the mozzarella.

  5. 9

    Drizzle Honey and Season

Drizzle spicy honey over the toppings and sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes for added heat.

  6. 10

    Bake Pizza

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  7. 11

    Garnish and Serve

Remove pizza from the oven, sprinkle with chopped basil, and let it cool for a couple of minutes before slicing and serving.
