Pizza Dough

Method

Pizza Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water (100°F/38°C) with sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.

  2. 6

    Shape Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out to a 11-inch circle.

  3. 7

    Prepare Sauce

In a bowl, crush the San Marzano tomatoes with your hands or a fork. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. 8

    Assemble Pizza

Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or parchment paper. Spread the crushed tomatoes evenly over the dough, leaving a small border. Sprinkle mozzarella, white cheddar, and provolone cheeses over the sauce. Finally, add a sprinkle of shredded gouda on top.

  5. 9

    Bake Pizza

Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  6. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and serve hot.
