Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper for easy removal.

2

Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt the dark chocolate and unsalted butter over low heat. Stir occasionally until smooth and fully combined. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

3

Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined and slightly frothy.

4

Combine Mixtures

Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg and sugar mixture while whisking continuously to prevent the eggs from cooking.

5

Add Vanilla and Dry Ingredients

Stir in the vanilla extract, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt until just combined. Do not overmix.

6

Pour and Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is still slightly soft.

7

Cool and Serve

Remove the torte from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, carefully invert it onto a serving plate and remove the parchment paper. Allow it to cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar or serving with fresh berries and whipped cream.
