Preparation of Topping

Chop the Tomatoes
Dice the fresh tomatoes into small cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.

Mince the Garlic
Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves, then add to the bowl with the tomatoes.

Prepare the Basil
Wash the fresh basil leaves, pat dry, and roughly chop. Add to the bowl.

Season the Mixture
Add balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper to the tomato mixture. Stir well to combine. Let it sit to allow the flavors to meld.

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Slice the Bread
Slice the baguette or Italian bread into 1/2 inch thick slices.

Brush with Olive Oil
Place the sliced bread on a baking sheet and brush the tops with olive oil.

Toast the Bread
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and crispy.

Remove the toasted bread from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice of toasted bread.
