Method
Prepare glassware & extras
- 1
Inspect and chill (optional)
Ensure the chosen serving glass is clean and free of spots. If serving chilled water, place the glass in the refrigerator for 5–10 minutes or pre-fill with ice for immediate chilling.
- 2
If using a small pitcher or carafe for table service, verify it is clean and dry, and set a napkin beneath it to catch drips when pouring.
Select water type
- 3
Ask the guest whether they prefer flat (still) or sparkling (carbonated) water. If no preference is given, offer the house default (flat or sparkling — follow establishment policy).
- 4
If serving from a bottle, confirm the bottle is sealed and at the appropriate temperature (room temperature for neutral service, chilled if requested). If serving from a tap or dispenser, ensure the source is clean and functioning.
Assemble and serve
- 5
If using ice: add 3–5 ice cubes to the glass. Avoid overfilling; leave room for water to prevent spills.

Safety & cleanliness

If a guest requests extra carbonation or a different temperature, accommodate if possible. Discard and replace water if it becomes visibly dirty or if the glass was contaminated before serving. Clean and sanitize glassware and carafes according to standard procedures between uses.
