Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

If desired, chill an old-fashioned glass by filling it with ice and water while you build the cocktail. Alternatively, place a large clear ice cube or sphere in the glass and set aside.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a mixing glass, add plenty of ice (about 6 large cubes). Pour 1 oz Tito's Vodka, 1 oz Cinzano Bianco Vermouth, and 1 oz Cappelletti Aperitivo over the ice.

  3. 3

    Stir

Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full rotations) until well chilled and slightly diluted — the mixing glass should become very cold to the touch and the liquid slightly viscous on the spoon.

  4. 4

    Strain

Discard the ice and water from the chilled old-fashioned glass (if you chilled the glass). Strain the stirred cocktail into the glass over a large clear ice cube or sphere if using; otherwise, strain over fresh ice.

  5. 5

    Garnish

Express the oils from an orange peel over the surface of the cocktail by holding the peel skin-side down about 3–4 inches above the drink and giving it a quick sharp fold. Run the peel around the rim, then drop the twist into the glass as garnish.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve immediately with a short straw or without. Recommend sipping slowly to enjoy the herbal-bitter-sweet balance.
