Margarita Cocktail

Method

Margarita Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare the glass

Pour the coarse salt onto a small plate. Run the cut edge of the lime wedge around the rim of a chilled rocks or coupe glass to moisten it, then dip the rim into the salt, twisting to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a shaker, add the blanco tequila (2 oz), fresh lime juice (1 oz), agave syrup (0.5 oz), and orange liqueur if using (0.5 oz).

  3. 3

    Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) until roughly two-thirds full. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 10–15 seconds, until the shaker feels very cold and slightly frosted.

  4. 4

    Strain and serve

Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice if serving on the rocks, or fine-strain into the chilled glass without ice for a straight-up margarita. Garnish with the lime wheel or wedge on the rim.

  5. 5

    Taste and adjust (optional)

If the drink is too tart, add a small splash (about 0.25 oz) more agave syrup and stir briefly. If too sweet, add 0.25 oz more lime juice, then taste again.
