Preparation Steps
- 1
Clean the Mussels
Rinse the mussels under cold running water, scrubbing the shells with a brush. Remove any beards and discard any mussels that are open and do not close when tapped.
- 2
Cook the Aromatics
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic, anise seeds, and red chili flakes. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- 3
Add Wine and Mussels
Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer. Add the cleaned mussels to the pot and cover with a lid. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the mussels have opened.
- 4
Finish with Dill
Remove the pot from heat. Stir in the chopped dill and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Discard any mussels that did not open.
- 5
Serve
Serve the mussels in bowls with the broth, garnished with additional dill if desired.
