Preparation

Chill all ingredients in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes. Zest and orange and lime for garnish; cut grapefruit segments into bite-sized pieces if needed.

Mixing

In a shaker, combine grapefruit segments, orange juice, ginger syrup, vodka (or tequila), Cointreau, lime juice, simple syrup, and a pinch of sea salt. Add ice and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until well chilled.

Fill highball glasses with ice. Strain the mixture into the glasses, top with soda water, and give a gentle stir. Garnish with orange peel twists and a small grapefruit segment perched on the rim.
