Wet Ingredients

Amber Glaze

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, cream the softened unsalted butter until fluffy. Gradually add the eggs, mixing well after each addition. Then add the vanilla extract and milk, stirring until fully combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix.

Baking

  1. 5

    Prepare Baking Pan

Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

  2. 6

    Bake

Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  3. 7

    Cool

Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Amber Glaze

  1. 8

    Prepare the Glaze

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, heavy cream, and butter. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a boil.

  2. 9

    Simmer

Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

  3. 10

    Glaze the Cake

Once the cake has cooled completely, pour the amber glaze over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides.
