Method

Assembly

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Select a large wine glass or tulip spritz glass. Fill the glass about three-quarters full with large ice cubes to chill and maintain effervescence.

  2. 2

    Measure liqueur

Pour 3 tablespoons (about 45 ml) of your chosen base liqueur (Aperol, apricot, elderflower, limoncello, or peach) over the ice into the glass.

  3. 3

    Add sparkling wine

Slowly pour 150 ml of chilled Italian sparkling wine (Prosecco or similar) into the glass at a slight angle to preserve bubbles. Pour gently to avoid overflowing.

  4. 4

    Adjust with soda (optional)

If you prefer a lighter spritz, top with up to 30 ml soda water. Add it slowly and stir gently once with a bar spoon — one smooth turn — to combine without flattening the bubbles.

Garnish & Finishing

  1. 5

Garnish the spritz by resting one dried apple slice on the rim or floating it on top of the drink. If using, add a fresh citrus twist (orange for Aperol or peach; lemon for limoncello) tucked on the rim or dropped into the glass for aroma.

  2. 6

Serve immediately with a short straw or cocktail pick. Note: keep the spritzer cold and consume promptly to enjoy the sparkling character.

Batching (optional)

  1. 7

    Make a small pitcher

For a small pitcher (4 servings): multiply the liqueur by 4 (12 tbs / ~180 ml) and the sparkling wine by 4 (600 ml). Combine liqueur and sparkling wine gently in a chilled pitcher. Do not add ice to the pitcher—place ice in individual glasses and pour. Add soda water to taste per glass and garnish each with a dried apple slice.
