- 1
Prepare glass (optional)
If you like a salted rim, rub a lime wedge around the outer rim of a highball or Collins glass and dip the rim lightly into coarse salt so a thin, even coating adheres. Discard excess salt.
- 2
Add ice and tequila
Fill the prepared glass with large ice cubes or crushed ice until about 3/4 full. Pour 2 oz blanco tequila over the ice.
- 3
Add lime juice
Squeeze fresh lime juice (about 1/2 oz) directly into the glass. If you prefer a more citrus-forward drink, add up to 3/4 oz.
- 4
Top with sparkling water
Slowly top the tequila and lime with 4 oz very cold sparkling mineral water (Topo Chico or similar) to preserve carbonation and create a light effervescence. Stir gently once or twice with a bar spoon to combine—do not over-stir.
- 5
Garnish and serve
Garnish with the lime wedge on the rim or dropped into the drink. Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.
