Method
Prepare Drink
- 1
Fill mug
Place 1 cup of ice cubes into a large mug (16–20 oz capacity) or tall glass. The ice chills the drink and keeps proportions consistent as you pour.
- 2
Add juices
Pour 1 cup orange juice into the mug over the ice, then add 1/2 cup cranberry juice. Pour slowly so the juices mix smoothly.
- 3
- 4
Add grenadine
Slowly drizzle 1 tablespoon grenadine into the center of the drink. The denser grenadine will sink and create a pink-to-red gradient near the bottom (the signature look of the cocktail).
- 5
Light stir (optional)
If you prefer an evenly mixed flavor rather than a layered presentation, gently stir once with a long spoon to combine the grenadine with the juices and soda. Avoid vigorous stirring to keep some fizz from the soda.
Garnish & Serve
- 6
Garnish the mug with an orange slice on the rim and add a maraschino cherry if desired. Insert a straw and serve immediately while the soda is fizzy and the drink is chilled.
