Meatballs and Sauce
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine the Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 2
Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 2.5 cm in diameter.
- 3
Cook the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- 4
Make the Tomato Sauce
In the same skillet, add the crushed tomatoes and dried oregano. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 5 minutes. Return the meatballs to the skillet and coat with the sauce.
- 5
Prepare the Garlic Rolls
Slice the garlic rolls in half and lightly toast them if desired.
- 6
Assemble the Sliders
Place a few meatballs on the bottom half of each garlic roll, spoon some tomato sauce over the meatballs, and top with additional grated Parmesan if desired. Close the sliders with the top half of the rolls.
