Cook the Penne Pasta
In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Arrabbiata Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red chili flakes, sautéing until the garlic is fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

Add Tomatoes
Stir in the crushed tomatoes and season with salt and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes to thicken.

Cook the Shrimp
Add the shrimp to the sauce and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through.

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked penne pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce. Stir in the chopped basil.

Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and additional basil if desired.
