Method
Preparation and Baking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Allow to sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add olive oil, salt, and flour. Mix until a dough forms. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- 2
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Shape the Focaccia
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down the risen dough and transfer to a greased baking sheet. Stretch and press the dough to fit the sheet. Create dimples in the surface using your fingers.
- 4
Add Toppings
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top, followed by dried oregano and black pepper.
- 5
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before slicing.
