Cocktail
Fresh Sour Mix (makes ~8 oz)
Method
Fresh Sour Mix
- 1
Make sour mix (can be prepared ahead)
Combine fresh lemon juice, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup in a jar or container. Stir or shake until fully combined. Chill until ready to use. Yields approximately 8 ounces; use 1.5 oz per cocktail.
Cocktail Assembly
- 2
Prepare glass
If desired, chill a coupe or rocks glass by filling with ice water while you mix the cocktail. Discard ice water before straining the cocktail into the glass.
- 3
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 1.5 oz blanco tequila, 0.75 oz triple sec, 2 tablespoons (approximately 1 oz) housemade limoncello, 0.75 oz raspberry syrup, and 1.5 oz fresh sour mix. Add a generous handful of ice (about 1 cup).
- 4
Shake
Shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the outside of the shaker is well-chilled and slightly frosted. This chills and slightly dilutes the drink for balance.
- 5
Strain
Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or a rocks glass filled with fresh ice (depending on presentation preference) using a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer to remove small ice shards and any seeds.
- 6
Garnish
Thread 3 fresh raspberries on a cocktail pick or float them in the drink and add a lemon wheel on the rim. Serve immediately.
