Method

Burger Preparation

1

Prepare the Beef Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until the spices are evenly incorporated, being careful not to overwork the meat.

2

Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.

3

Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill/skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each one. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Assembly

4

Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

5

Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf. Add the cooked beef patty with melted cheese on top of the lettuce. Slice the tomato and add a slice on top of each burger. Add ketchup, mustard, and pickles to taste. Top with the other half of the bun.

6

Serve

Serve the burgers immediately while they are hot with your favorite sides.
