In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

Add beer, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Shape Pretzels
Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope, then twist into a pretzel shape.

In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil. Carefully drop each pretzel into the boiling water for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on a greased baking sheet.
