Method
Preparing the Burger
- 1
Mixing the Beef
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- 2
Forming the Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, making a slight indentation in the center of each to help them cook evenly.
- 3
Cooking the Patties
Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness. If adding cheese, place a slice on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking.
Assembling the Burger
- 4
Preparing the Toppings
While the patties are cooking, wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato into thick slices and the red onion into rings.
- 5
Toasting the Buns
If desired, toast the brioche buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- 6
Building the Burger
On the bottom half of each toasted brioche bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty, tomato slice, and red onion rings. Top with the other half of the bun to finish.
